About our team
The worship of God is essential in the life of a Christian. At Central Baptist Church, our Music and Worship ministry exists to glorify God and strives to provide people opportunities for:
- Leadership in the corporate worship of God
- Personal spiritual development
- Supportive relationships
- Music education
- Community outreach
- Mission trips and events
- Involvement in the church
The following Scripture is useful in describing the philosophy of the Music and Worship Ministry at Central Baptist Church:
Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Colossians 3:16-17 (NIV)
Throughout scripture, Christians are instructed to worship the Lord through singing and music. At Central Baptist Church, we have many ways to be involved in worship leadership and discipleship through music and the arts. Above all, we want to minister to you and your family and we have a place for you to plug in no matter your age, interests, or musical skill level.

Our Groups
The Worship Choir is the largest group of worship leaders in our church and is open to all adults (Ages 18 and up). If you have a passion for worship, we need your heart and your voice in this group! The Worship Choir leads worship in the weekly services on Sundays, as well as presenting concerts, musicals, and theatrical events throughout the year to reach out into the community. From this group, we form smaller worship teams and ensembles as well. Vocal training is not required – only a passion for worship and a heart to serve! Join us on Wednesday evening for rehearsal!
For more information about the Worship Choir, please contact our church office 256-353-5912.
The worship band leads worship on Sunday mornings with the choir and praise team, as well as joining on the various outreach concerts and worship events held throughout the year. Because of the unique requirements of playing instruments in worship, some experience is needed. The various band members rotate from week to week and we are always looking for more guitarists (acoustic and electric), bass players, drummers, keyboardists, etc. to join our band. Please contact us for more information on how to join.

The MESSENGERS Student Choir consists of students in grades 7-12 and meets on Sundays from August through June. Throughout the year, the students lead worship, perform special events, and serve in various capacities in the life of our church and in the community. They finish off their year in June with a fun-filled mission trip to various places all across the country. No special talent is needed – just a heart for worship and a willingness to learn and serve.
Why do we have this ministry?
Discipleship
MESSENGERS will help to disciple your child. Together, we will study and sing scripture and biblical truths. As we memorize the songs, the messages of these songs will be impressed on our hearts. We will not just learn what it means to lead and serve, we will actually go and serve through our mission trip and service projects and lead our church in worship.
Fellowship
MESSENGERS will give your child an opportunity to make and strengthen Christian friends. Like a sports team or musical group, we will work toward a common goal and it will bind us together. Unlike a sports team or school musical group, our common goal is to strengthen the body of Christ through ministry and worship leadership. The memories we make in MESSENGERS will last a lifetime.
Missions/Ministry
MESSENGERS will give your child an opportunity to serve, share the gospel, and minister. Throughout the year, we will GO and minister to our church, our community, and other states.
Worship
MESSENGERS will help teach your child how to worship. Worship is a lifestyle and we will not only focus on how to worship through music and the arts, but also learn how to offer our entire lives as a sacrifice of praise. We will teach your child how to offer their voices in song, offer their hands in service, and offer their lives to honor the Lord. MESSENGERS will help train your child to be a worshiper.

This group of senior adults gather on the second and fourth Monday of each month because they love to sing and worship the Lord. They lead periodically in evening worship services and often take their talents to perform in nursing homes and other community outreach efforts.
